Becoming a more confident investor

Get versed in what investing is all about. This is an overview of investing and will include getting ready and knowing when to invest. Different kinds of investments such as stocks, bonds and mutual funds will also be covered.

Cory has been living and working in Southern Minnesota for the past three years. He's an advocate of empowering youth in self-sufficiency. His desire is not only to educate today's youth in investing, but also in proper money management. Cory has been working in the financial industry for 10 years and is currently pursuing an MBA.

Helping your kids become savvy savers
Presented by Jan Gilman

For kids to grow up money smart, it is important to teach kids good financial habits. Topics include techniques for encouraging children to save, spend, earn, borrow and give money wisely.

Jan has been an educator with the UM Extension in Family Resource Management for almost 30 years.  She is experienced in teaching train the trainer and consumer education on a variety of money management topics.  Jan has also co-authored of Money Issues section of Parents Forever, a curriculum for families in divorce transitions.

Building your retirement nest egg

Being sure your finances are in order for your golden years is very important, not only for your well-being but also for your peace of mind. We’ll share tips and techniques to insure your money is diversified and in age-appropriate investments so it will be available to you when you need it.

Ray is a popular speaker on retirement and financial planning.   He has been a Certified Financial Planner since 1985 and holds degrees in both Physics and has a Masters of Business Administration. Ray is a past President/CEO of the the IBM Employees Credit Union, now known as the Think Mutual Savings Bank, and has received the Caldwell Group 100 award recognizing him as one of the "100 Most Admired CEOs in the Credit Union industry”. 

Riding out the current financial storm

When you’re losing money in the markets, you begin to wonder what you’re next step should be. This program will review the choices available to you and will illustrate the benefits of keeping your money invested.

Phyllis is an Educator and Professor with the UM Extension, focusing on Family Resource Management and Financial Security in Later Life.  She has presented at multiple national conferences and has been honored with several awards.  Phyllis believes in education and strives to provide Minnesotans with tools that can improve their quality of life.
